The Bridal Veil …

With spring moving by so quickly, The English Manor is now in full swing! As more and more weddings pass me by, I’ve noticed each and every bride has her own signature style. I especially love seeing each bride’s veil or headpiece.

There are many varying origins of the bridal veil. Some cultures originated the veil to conceal the face of the bride from her groom. Family members exchanging a dowry were afraid the groom would not marry the bride if he didn’t like the appearance of her face … a veil was worn to obscure the face of the bride from her groom. Only right before the ceremony did the groom see the bride’s face for the first time.

In other cultures, the veil signifies the purity and innocence of the bride. There are even some traditions that say the veil is worn by the bride to protect her from evil spirits! Today, there are tons of reasons to wear (or not wear) a bridal veil … what will you choose?
